Version 2026-10. Last updated: 16 October 2026. The short version: one person, up to 3 computers, don't share keys, your content stays yours, and the free plan stays free.
1. The licence
Lazy as (the "app") is licensed, not sold. This agreement is between you and The Crew MENA Art Production L.L.C, Dubai, United Arab Emirates ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you accept it. If you don't, please don't install or use the app.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the app on computers you own or control, for personal or work projects, as follows:
- Free plan: anyone, on any number of their own computers, within the free plan's limits (today, 100 notes a month).
- Pro and Founder Lifetime: one named person, active on up to 3 computers at the same time.
- Team: one named person per seat bought, each active on up to 2 computers at the same time. Seats can be reassigned when someone leaves.
2. Activation
Paid plans and the free trial check in with our licence server. Activating sends your licence key, a one-way fingerprint (SHA-256) of your computer's hardware ID, your computer's name, its system and the app version. After that the app renews about once a week, and works for 30 days without a connection. Details: lazyas.com/network.
You can move a licence to a new computer yourself by freeing an old one in the app or at lazyas.com/account, up to 5 times a month. Need more? Write to us.
3. Trial and free plan
Each computer gets one 14-day Pro trial, no card needed. When it ends, the app carries on as the free plan. We may change the free plan's limits for future months; we'll say so in the app and on the website first.
4. How long it lasts
Pro (monthly or yearly) and Team (billed yearly) last until the end of the period you paid for. If a renewal payment fails, Pro keeps working for up to 14 days while it's retried.
Founder Lifetime is a one-time payment for the lifetime of the product, not of the buyer: it covers every version of Lazy as we release, with no subscription. If we ever stop making Lazy as, the version you have keeps working, and we'll release a final version that no longer needs the licence server.
5. What you may not do
- Share, publish or sell licence keys, or use one key for more people or computers than it covers.
- Get around, disable or tamper with activation, trial or plan limits.
- Copy, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it despite this sentence (for example, for interoperability in the EU).
- Rent, lend, resell, sublicense or redistribute the app, or remove its copyright or licence notices.
- Use it to record people or confidential material without the right to, or to break the law.
This doesn't limit your right to modify or replace the open-source parts of the app (such as PySide6, Qt and pynput in the Windows and Linux app), or to reverse engineer the app to debug such changes, as their licences allow.
6. Ownership
The app, its code, design and the Lazy as name and logo belong to us. The app includes open-source components (Windows and Linux), which come with their own licences: see the list in the app (Settings › Pro & agents) or at lazyas.com/licenses. Nothing here limits your rights under those licences.
7. Your content
Your recordings, screenshots, notes and prompts are yours and stay on your computer. We don't receive them. You're responsible for what you capture and for what you send to AI services or other people.
8. Updates
The app checks daily for a newer version. We may update, add or remove features. Updates are covered by this agreement unless they come with a new one.
9. Refunds and ending the licence
Refunds follow our refund policy (lazyas.com/refunds). A refunded or charged-back purchase ends its licence. We may end your licence if you seriously break this agreement (for example, by sharing keys), after telling you and giving you a chance to fix it where that's reasonable. You can stop any time by deleting the app. When a licence ends, Pro features stop; the free plan stays available.
10. Other people's services
Speech recognition (Apple's, or a Whisper model downloaded from Hugging Face), AI services you connect (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, GitHub and others) and payment (Paddle) have their own terms. Lazy as isn't made by, endorsed by or affiliated with them.
11. No warranty
The app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of transcriptions and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows. Check what an AI agent does with your feedback before you ship it.
12. Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or time. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
13. Export and sanctions
Don't use the app where, or by anyone to whom, export or sanctions laws forbid providing it.
14. Consumers
If you're a consumer, you keep every right the law of your country gives you, and nothing in this agreement takes those away.
15. Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the Emirate of Dubai and the federal laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of Dubai decide disputes, except where your local consumer law says otherwise.
16. Changes and contact
We may update this agreement for new versions; the app asks you to accept a changed one. Questions: lazyas.com/support.
