Lazy as needs your microphone, your screen and (on a Mac) Accessibility. That's a lot to ask of a small app, so here is every way data can leave your computer, in one table. If something here ever changes, the changelog says so.
| What | What happens | Who receives it | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your voice | Mac: Apple's speech recognition, like Dictation (Settings › Capture › Private keeps it on your Mac). Windows and Linux: Whisper on your computer. | Mac: Apple, unless you pick Private. Windows/Linux: nowhere. | Audio is never saved |
| Screenshots | Taken around the pointer while you talk, saved in your session folder. | Nowhere | Lazy as never uploads them |
| Element and text under the pointer | Text read from the screenshot around the pointer, on your computer. Mac, if you allow Accessibility: the name of what you point at. | Nowhere | Saved in your notes |
| Page address or window title | Asked from your browser (Mac) or read from the window title (Windows/Linux). | Nowhere | Saved in your notes |
| Make it a prompt | The text of your notes goes to the AI you picked, through its own app on your computer (Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, Copilot CLI) or your Anthropic API key. | That AI company, under your account | Images are never sent here. Offline cleaner: nothing leaves |
| Open in AI chat | Opens the chat website with your notes typed in (ChatGPT, Claude) or on your clipboard (others). | That chat site, when the page loads | You decide what to send |
| AI agents (MCP) | The lazyas tool runs on your computer and answers the agent you connected, over a local pipe. | Whatever your agent sends to its own AI | Lazy as itself sends nothing |
| Update check | Once a day: lazyas.com/api/latest with your system (mac, windows or linux) and app version. | Our website | No ID; we keep nothing (our host's standard logs may hold your IP address briefly) |
| Licence activation | With a licence key: when you add it, then about once a week, lazyas.com/api/activate gets your key, a SHA-256 fingerprint of this computer's hardware ID (not the ID), the computer's name, your system and the app version. | Our licence server (Vercel, Supabase) | Works 30 days offline. Free plan and early access: never |
| Trial start | Once paid plans are on, on a computer with no licence: lazyas.com/api/trial gets the same computer fingerprint, your system and the app version, so a reinstall doesn't restart the 14-day trial. | Our licence server | Once, then only if the app's records are deleted |
| Speech model download | Windows and Linux, first session only: the Whisper model from huggingface.co. | Hugging Face (sees your IP) | Offline after that |
What never happens
- No sign-up, no passwords, no analytics, telemetry or crash reporting in the app.
- No recording when you're not in a session. The screen and mic are only used while a session runs.
- No API keys of ours inside the app, and no scraping of AI websites.
